- Story: Victor Valenzuela’s fight nickname “Joe Boxer” is one he preferred he didn’t have. Known by his friends and family as “Tory,” which is short for victory, he was stuck with the “Joe Boxer” tag soon after beginning training with the Millennia Fight Team in order to expand his ground game. The gym is rich in Jiu-Jitsu practitioners who couldn’t seem to remember Valenzuela’s name for one reason or another. He initially became known as “that boxing dude” when one member of the team asked another “What’s that boxing dude’s name?” Some time and a few incarnations later, Victor Valenzuela became known to teammates and fights fan as “Joe Boxer.” Some of his teammates started referring to him as “Joe Jitsu” following his most recent win over Scott Ayres at 0:30 in the first round via rear naked choke during a King of the Cage event in April. “Joe Jitsu” is one nickname he doesn’t mind having.
